Biography

Dante Fascell (1917–1998) represented south Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives for nearly four decades, championing civil rights, environmental stewardship, and a foreign policy rooted in dialogue. He was instrumental in protecting the Everglades, improving relations with Latin America, and ensuring that Florida's voice was heard on national issues.

As chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, he fostered global understanding, helped launch the North-South Center at the University of Miami, and continued to mentor colleagues long after his retirement; he rests at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, leaving behind a legacy of principled leadership.
