Biography
David Bennett King answered the call of service during a period that demanded new resolve, offering himself to the country as it rebuilt from Civil War divisions and pressed into the twentieth century. He was known among his peers for a measured temperament, unwilling to compromise principles even when the road was hard, and he believed that the measure of a leader is the care he takes for those entrusted to him.
His retirement years saw him remain engaged in veterans' circles and civic causes, thus ensuring the sacrifices he had witnessed would be remembered honestly and respectfully. Now he rests at Green-Wood Cemetery, where family and friends remember a citizen dedicated to duty and fellowship.
