Biography

David Douglas, born in 1799, brought the wonders of the Pacific Northwest to botanists abroad, cataloging trees and plants such as the Douglas fir with meticulous care.

His journals and specimens enriched gardens on both sides of the Atlantic even as his own life ended in Honolulu in 1834, a testament to the rigors of exploration.
