David H. Patton, who lived from 1837 to 1914, was a familiar figure to those around him, always ready with a calm word of advice and a willingness to lend a hand in difficult times.

He earned the respect of neighbors for his sincere interest in their well-being, and he rests now at Remington Cemetery surrounded by the land he helped to steward.
