David Holmes

Biography

David Holmes was born in 1769 and rose to guide Mississippi from territory to statehood, serving as governor and later as a senator with judicious resolve.

He rests at Centenary Reformed UCC Cemetery, where his leadership and fair temper are still honored by those who study the early years of the state.
