David L. Beatty

Biography

David L. Beatty (1798-1881) guided Louisville as mayor, shepherding the city through periods of expansion while promoting civic order and fair play.

He valued public education and charity, believing that a well-ordered city could offer opportunity to all, and he is commemorated at Calvary Cemetery for his faithful leadership.
