David Magnan
1898–1918 (age 20)
Biography
David Magnan was among the youngest in uniform when he stepped forward in the later years of the Great War, embracing the responsibilities of military life with courage beyond his years. His letters home spoke of camaraderie and the conviction that their efforts would help bring peace to Europe.
In 1918 he did not return, and La Treille cemetery now welcomes visitors who remember him as part of the generation that endured the horrors of trench warfare while holding fast to hope.
