Biography

Demetre Chiparus was a renowned sculptor whose distinctive Art Deco style earned him international recognition during the early 20th century. His elegant figurative works, often depicting dancers and classical themes, became highly sought after by collectors and patrons throughout Europe and America.

Chiparus maintained an active artistic practice throughout his career, creating works that exemplified the sophisticated aesthetic sensibilities of the Art Deco movement. He spent significant time in Paris, the cultural capital of Europe, where he developed his artistic vision. He passed away in 1947 and was buried in Cimetière parisien de Bagneux, one of Paris's principal cemeteries.
