Biography

Dora Kelly Lewis used her talents as a teacher to galvanize women across the country, co-founding the National Woman's Party, organizing picketing campaigns, and carrying the cause for the vote into the public square with courage and conviction.

After the suffrage victory she devoted herself to peace work and educational outreach, and those who visit the Saint James the Less Episcopal Churchyard still remember the steady leader whose advocacy and compassion changed the course of American democracy.
