Biography

Composer Duke Jordan brought the lyricism of bebop to paper through melodies that became standards performed across the world, most notably "Jordu," which remains a favorite among jazz musicians. His piano playing and writing captured both smoky clubs and intimate studio sessions, always with grace and lyrical inventiveness.

Jordan's devotion to his craft inspired generations of players, and his calm generosity at clinics and rehearsals left a lasting influence; he is remembered with respect at Vestre Cemetery, where his music still plays softly in the hearts of listeners.
