Biography
Dutch Bergman built a reputation as a college football coach who valued the whole student-athlete, guiding teams with discipline, creativity, and an appreciation for academic success; his squads at Catholic University and other institutions were noted for resilience and teamwork. He also took pride in nurturing assistant coaches and ensuring that athletics programs reflected the schools’ character.
After retiring from the sidelines he stayed connected to the sport through mentorship, enjoyed wide-ranging friendships with former players, and found peace in the Mount Hope community before being laid to rest there.
