Biography
E. W. Kemble (1861–1933) brought stories to life with his pen, capturing scenes from American life in Harper's and other magazines with a keen eye for detail and humanity. His illustrations leapt from the page, inviting readers to see the humor and heart beneath every face he drew, whether in serials or in the beloved Uncle Remus tales.
He mentored young artists and believed that illustration could uplift as well as entertain, always urging colleagues to observe closely and honor every subject. He now rests in Maple Shade Cemetery, a reminder that art can linger long after the artist is gone.
