Biography

Eddie Mathews was one of the fiercest hitters of his era, patrolling third base with a combination of power, grit, and professionalism that earned him a first-ballot election to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Over seventeen seasons in the National League, most notably with the Braves organization, he slugged over 500 home runs while anchoring a lineup that captivated fans across the country.

In retirement he made his home near Santa Barbara, where he generously shared stories and advice with young players dreaming of the big leagues, and he remained a beloved ambassador for the game until his passing.
