Biography

Edmée Houssaye (1843–1846) was a young child whose brief life spanned the mid-nineteenth century in France. Though her years were few, her family deemed it fitting to ensure her burial at Père Lachaise Cemetery, one of Paris's most distinguished burial grounds.

The interment of children at Père Lachaise, even those who lived only a few years, reflects the importance families placed on proper commemoration and the significance of this cemetery as a repository of family memory and social standing.
