Biography
Edmund Andrews was a leading physician and educator in Chicago who advanced surgical science and medical teaching at a time when modern hospitals were taking shape. He was a founding force at Rush Medical College, promoting rigorous instruction and research so that patients might receive the most informed care.
He also helped to organize professional societies that encouraged unity and ethical practice among doctors, and he wrote treatises that guided physicians across the region. His legacy lives on in the countless healers he trained and the standards of care he helped to establish.
