Edmund Munroe's life spanned the founding years of the Republic through the trials of the Civil War, and he remained a steady presence in Cambridge, known to neighbors for his integrity and willingness to assist with the tasks of everyday life.

As a trusted elder he nurtured a sense of shared responsibility, welcomed newcomers, and supported local gatherings, and now rests among other long-standing residents at Cambridge Cemetery.
