Biography
Edward Augustus Brackett became known as one of Maine's premiere sculptors, translating civic aspirations into marble and bronze. He carved likenesses of statesmen and patrons, bringing the discipline of the studio to bear on every portrait while sharing his craftsmanship through exhibitions beyond his native region.
After returning to the banks of the Kennebec, he turned his attention to gardens, river stewardship, and quiet philanthropy, encouraging others to cherish the landscapes that inspired his art; his remains now rest among the trees of Wildwood Cemetery.
