Edward Falles Spence

Biography

Edward Falles Spence (1832–1892) contributed to the civic life of Los Angeles at a time when the city was beginning to take shape. He guided the growth of financial institutions and civic enterprises with practical wisdom and a spirit of service.

He believed that steady leadership could lift an entire community, and he worked quietly to ensure dependable stewardship for public projects. His calm presence is honored now at Evergreen Cemetery.
