Biography

Edward Henry Wehnert brought a continental sensibility to British illustration, rendering historical and religious subjects with meticulous draftsmanship for The Art Journal and other publications.

He taught aspiring artists and shared his belief that narrative art should instruct as well as charm, and his gentle, precise style remains appreciated by collectors and scholars; he lies buried in Highgate Cemetery as a reminder of the power of patient lines.
