Biography

Edward J. McDermott earned a law degree in Louisville and built a reputation as a thoughtful advocate before winning election as Kentucky's lieutenant governor, where he supported progressive reforms and public education.

He remained active in Democratic politics and Catholic charitable causes, offering counsel on civic projects and staying a steady presence in the legal community until his death; he now rests at Cave Hill Cemetery.
