Edward L. Hankenson, who lived from 1845 to 1910, devoted himself to the rhythms of Newark, always attentive to the needs of families and friends during both trials and triumphs.

Resting now in Newark Cemetery, his kindness and sense of responsibility ripple through the neighborhood conversations that still honor his name.
