Biography
Edward Lowe Martin took office as mayor of Kansas City in the 1870s and used his leadership to improve municipal finance, streetcar service, and the city's marketplace during a time of great expansion.
After leaving office he remained active in banking and charitable organizations, encouraging responsible growth and education, and Elmwood Cemetery preserves his place in the city's history.
