Biography
Edward Y. Parsons pursued the law after schooling in Kentucky, establishing a practice that gave him a clear view of his neighbors’ hopes and difficulties. In 1875 he was elected to represent Kentucky’s Second District in the U.S. House, where he brought a thoughtful voice to debates while advocating for the interests of Louisville’s citizens.
As a congressman he placed emphasis on internal improvements, commerce, and the rights of working families, and though his time in Washington was brief, his colleagues admired his steady judgment and his willingness to listen. He rests at Cave Hill Cemetery, leaving behind the memory of a young statesman taken too soon.
