Edwards Pierrepont

Biography

Edwards Pierrepont (1817-1892) emerged from modest origins to become a respected lawyer, using his sharp mind to fight corruption in New York City and to defend principle in the courts.

As United States Attorney General and later as Minister to Great Britain, he championed legal reforms and fair treatment for all, leaving a legacy of probity that comforted those who knew him.
