Biography

Elchanan Cajtlin was a poet whose literary work contributed to the rich cultural heritage of Polish-Jewish letters. His poetry reflected the intellectual and spiritual concerns of the Jewish community during the early 20th century, a period of both cultural flourishing and increasing peril.

Cajtlin's poetic legacy remains part of the historical record of Jewish cultural achievement. He was laid to rest at Okopowa Street Jewish Cemetery in Warsaw, where he is remembered among other writers and artists who enriched Polish-Jewish cultural life.
