Elijah Chichester

Biography

Elijah Chichester lived from 1778 to 1855, a span of 77 years that placed him among the elder statesmen of his generation. He witnessed the establishment of the United States and the early development of the nation's institutions and society.

Chichester's life concluded in 1855, and he was laid to rest in Lansingburgh Village Burial Ground, where his memory is preserved among the community he knew. His longevity allowed him to observe the remarkable changes of his era firsthand.
