Born in 1755, Elijah Churchill's long life spanned the stirring years of the new republic, and he spent it as a dependable neighbor whose steady presence was known from field to fellowship hall.

He is laid to rest at Bell Cemetery, where his calm wisdom and willingness to lend a hand are still recalled by descendants and friends.
