Biography

Elijah Dewey Harmon lived through nearly nine decades of American history, from the early years of the republic through the Civil War era and beyond. His long life allowed him to witness tremendous changes in the nation's development and character.

Harmon's memory is honored at Graceland Cemetery in Chicago, where he was laid to rest among other notable figures of his generation, a testament to his place in the community he called home.
