Biography

Elijah Kellogg was a well-loved Congregationalist minister whose sermons combined rigorous theology with a warm storyteller's touch. His experiences on the coast inspired a series of adventure tales for youth that carried moral lessons, while his ministry called men and women to live faithfully in an unsettled century.

Known for his hospitality, mentoring of younger clergy, and advocacy for education, he spent his final years near Portland and now lies at Western Cemetery, leaving behind a literary and pastoral legacy.
