Biography

Elijah Watt Sells rose from humble origins to become one of the architects of the modern accounting profession, helping to found the American Association of Public Accountants and push for a rigorous, uniform CPA examination.

He championed ethical standards and education for young accountants, leaving a legacy of integrity that endures in the halls of the profession he helped to shape, and his memory rests beside family in Putnam Cemetery.
