Eliphas Levi was a French occultist, author, and esotericist who profoundly influenced Western occultism and mystical thought. Born Alphonse Louis Constant, he adopted the Hebrew version of his name and became one of the most significant figures in 19th-century occultism, synthesizing Jewish Kabbalah with Western esoteric traditions.

Levi's extensive writings, including his influential works on magic and mysticism, shaped the development of modern occult philosophy and continue to be studied by practitioners and scholars. He was interred in Cimetière parisien d'Ivry, leaving behind a complex intellectual legacy that bridged religious studies, philosophy, and esoteric practice.
