Biography

Elisheva Cohen (1911–1989) was a pioneering curator and art historian who played a leading role in shaping Israel’s cultural institutions, notably through her work at the Israel Museum. She curated exhibitions that introduced the public to Jewish and Israeli art, always spotlighting craftsmanship and narrative richness.

Cohen also mentored younger curators, believing in the transformative power of museums to reflect society; her resting place on the Mount of Olives honors a life spent safeguarding cultural memory.
