Biography

Eliza R. Sunderland (1839–1910) was a strong advocate for education and moral reflection, writing and speaking to encourage thoughtful citizenship and welcoming many to conversations about faith, the role of women, and the importance of lifelong learning.

Forest Hill Cemetery now holds her rest among gentle trees, her influence lingering in the hearts of those who continue the causes she embraced and recalling her insistence on integrity and compassion in public life.
