Biography

Eliza Swezey (1816-1906) brought warmth and hospitality to Yaphank, nurturing family and neighbors with a calm determination that matched the steadfast pace of rural Long Island life.

Her good counsel and unassuming generosity continue to be recalled by descendants, and she sleeps peacefully in Yaphank Cemetery.
