Biography

Elizabeth Bond Travis was born in 1766 and lived through the transformative decades of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century America. She was part of a generation that experienced the Revolutionary War and the establishment of the new nation's institutions.

Travis died in 1821 at the age of fifty-five and was laid to rest at Christ Church Burial Ground in Philadelphia. Her life spanned a remarkable period of American history, and her burial in one of the city's most significant cemeteries reflects her place within Philadelphia's established community.
