Elizabeth Clay was born in 1786 and lived during the early years of the American republic. She witnessed the growth and development of her nation and community throughout her life during a transformative era.

Clay passed away in 1853 at the age of 67, concluding a life lived during significant historical change. She was laid to rest at Grove Hill Cemetery, where her memory is preserved among the community she knew and served.
