Biography

Elkanah Armitage (1794–1876) was a figure of the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries whose life witnessed significant social and industrial change in England. He maintained roots in the Weaste community, where he was eventually interred in the local cemetery.

Though limited biographical details survive, Armitage's long life of eighty-two years reflects the experiences of many individuals who lived through a period of profound transformation in British society and industry.
