Elon Farnsworth served as Attorney General and Chancellor of Michigan from 1843 to 1845, holding two of the state's most significant legal offices during a formative period in Michigan's development. His tenure reflected the growing professionalization of the state's legal institutions in the mid-nineteenth century.
