Biography

Emanuel Willis Wilson rose from West Virginia's hills to serve as the state’s governor, where he focused on improving schools, roads, and the institutions that linked the newly industrializing regions of the state.

He remained attentive to the people he served even after leaving office, supporting charitable and educational initiatives, and he lies in Spring Hill Cemetery Historic District.
