Biography
Embury D. Osband answered the Union's call with a resolute heart, leading men of the U.S. Colored Cavalry through fierce fighting along the Mississippi and vindicating the cause of freedom by his example.
He remained near Vicksburg as the country sought to heal, and his final rest in Vicksburg National Cemetery honors a soldier who gave himself selflessly to the nation.
