Emil Jellinek, born 1853, was an entrepreneur of Austrian origin who settled in France and became a visionary promoter of the emerging automotive industry, insisting that his automobiles meet the highest standards of performance.
He forged a partnership with the Daimler company, guiding the creation of the Mercedes brand and helping elevate motor racing to an act of national pride before his passing in 1918.
