Biography

Emmanuel de Grouchy, Marquis de Grouchy, was a prominent French military commander whose career spanned the Revolutionary and Napoleonic periods, as well as the subsequent restoration of the French monarchy. Born in 1766 into the French nobility, he distinguished himself through military service and strategic acumen during some of history's most consequential battles.

Grouchy's long and distinguished military career extended well into the 19th century until his death in 1847. He was honored with burial in Père Lachaise Cemetery, one of France's most prestigious burial grounds, a fitting tribute to his rank, service, and enduring influence on French military history.
