Enoch Barton Garey lived through a period of immense change in America, and his years of service in uniforms across theaters of conflict reflected the best ideals of the citizen-soldier. Born in 1883, he embraced responsibility with calm resolve, forming close bonds with fellow servicemen and earning their respect.
In retirement he kept faith with the values that guided him in uniform, supporting veterans’ causes and tending to the needs of a community grateful for his quiet strength. Los Angeles National Cemetery now honors his memory, a place of dignity for a life dedicated to country and comradeship.
