Biography

Erasmus D. Avery, born in 1808, lived a life grounded in integrity, serving as a reliable friend and civic-minded citizen whose calm counsel helped guide the Colonel Ledyard neighborhood through generations of change.

He treasured simple conversation, the well-tended garden, and the faithfulness of neighbors, and in 1893 he was laid to rest in Colonel Ledyard Cemetery, where stories of his thoughtful leadership continue to be shared.
