Ercole Consalvi was an Italian ecclesiastical statesman and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church. Born in 1757, he rose to prominence during a transformative period in European history, serving as Secretary of State to the Papacy.
Consalvi played a crucial role in papal diplomacy and the restoration of the Church's temporal and spiritual authority following the Napoleonic era.
