Biography
Erik August Skogsbergh arrived from Sweden as a young man and became a beloved clergyman among Minnesota's Swedish immigrants, preaching with warmth and establishing a Swedish-language free mission that became a spiritual home for many new arrivals. His evangelistic tours and clear sermons offered comfort and encouragement during an era of rapid change.
He also helped found schools and outreach programs that kept language and culture alive while opening doors to broader American society, a legacy of faith and service that endures in the institutions he inspired and in the memories of those who attended nearby Lakewood congregations.
