Biography

Ernest de Canouville (1784–1863) was a French figure whose life encompassed the late Enlightenment and the Napoleonic era. He witnessed the dramatic transformations of French society during one of history's most turbulent periods, establishing himself within the social fabric of his time.

De Canouville's long life of nearly eighty years allowed him to observe the evolution of France from the ancien régime through the restoration and beyond. He was honored with burial in Père Lachaise Cemetery, the distinguished necropolis of Paris.
