Ernest de Saisset

Biography

Ernest de Saisset (1864–1899) carried a quiet but earnest devotion to the arts that left an impression on the Santa Clara community that welcomed him. Though many details of his daily work are little recorded, his creative spirit and patronage helped nurture the cultural life of the region he called home.

He is remembered in Santa Clara with gratitude for the beauty he sought to bring forth, and his memory is honored near the site where the De Saisset Museum now preserves the kind of curiosity he embodied.
