Biography
Eurípides Rubio was born in Puerto Rico in 1938 and enlisted in the United States Army, carrying the pride of his island heritage into every assignment. He learned the meaning of leadership on the march, always looking out for the soldiers beside him while striving to merge professionalism with compassion.
When his unit came under enemy fire in Vietnam, he placed himself between his comrades and the deadly blast, sacrificing his own life to pull others to safety and continuing to serve until the final moment. For that selfless courage he earned the Medal of Honor, leaving a legacy of devotion to duty and fellow soldiers.
