Ezekiel Polk

1747–1824 (age 77)

Biography

Ezekiel Polk was born in 1747 and answered the unsettled call of the young republic with quiet strength, serving in the militia during the Revolution and guiding his household through the trials of frontier life.

He kept fields and family near the present-day Polk Cemetery, raising children whose ambitions would echo through a grandson named James K. Polk, and he was laid to rest among those ancestral acres in 1824.
